EXO AMENITIES

CONTEXT

The EXO Rooftop Amenity is a 3,200 SF rooftop in Astoria, Queens with full 360-degree views.

Palette was tasked with changing the visual identity of the building, and create a sense of place and comfort that the residents would respond to and potential tenants would be attracted to.

URBAN BACKYARD

Palette conceived the roof as a great urban yard, where one could perform any of their daily activities in an outdoor environment, everything from cooking, entertaining, sleeping, reading, and consuming media.

The rooftop was designed to have 7 distinct zones of activity with interventions in each zone which would spark activity and contain the needed infrastructure for the building.

USE SCENARIOS

The zones are adaptable in scale and use to accommodate different groups of users and many different times of day and different days of the year.

The Arbor zone features a large solar cell canopy which provides shelter throughout the year, while generating the power for the project which is used through the rooftop in the form of speakers, lights, video screens, and WIFI stations.
