April joined Palette Architecture in 2018. She focuses on new construction and multi-unit residential projects and has been the project manager on over 300,000 SF of new-build construction projects in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Through this work she has concentrated on optimizing the experience of people living in the units and relationship of the building to the community. Additionally, April leads Palette’s New York City energy compliance modeling and works to optimize material selection and exterior detailing for economic and energy efficiency.
Originally from Beijing, China, April developed an early interest in math and geometry and enjoyed practicing Chinese calligraphy and painting growing up. She was involved in a program led by the American Academy in China, which designed rural housing and an elementary school in Nanjing China, and saw first-hand the power of architecture to shape people’s experience. She has taken this lesson into her professional work, creating unique and exceptional environments for people to use and interact with. April holds a as B.S. in Architecture from University of Southern California, and an M.S. in Advanced Architecture Design from Columbia University. April is a registered architect in the state of New York.
